About
Kobe Modern
Architecture Festival

Kobe is located near the ancient capital of Kyoto and the commercial city of Osaka, but has a different character from both.
About 100 years ago, Kobe developed greatly as a trading center with foreign countries. The foreign settlement, called "the most beautiful in the Orient," was lined with modern architecture, and every aspect of the city, including food, clothing, housing, entertainment, and culture, was characterized by lifestyles brought from around the world.
In 1995, the Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake, struck the city. Nearly 30 years later, the city has become a unique and charming fusion of historic and reconstructed elements.
The Kobe Modern Architecture Festival is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy modern architecture in a city filled with the turbulent modern history and thoughts of many predecessors.

Buildings, facilities, and spaces that are not normally open to the public will be open only to holders of the Kobe Modern Architecture Festival 2024 Passport, thanks to the generosity and cooperation of their owners and related parties.
The passport is valid for three days and costs 3,000 yen per person. Please purchase your passport from the ticket sales page here.
Please use the web's automatic translation function.

Period November 22 (Fri.) - 24 (Sun.), 2024
